Cedomir Krstic Gallery in Pirot opens exhibition from the collection of the Central Military Club
A visiting representative exhibition of works from the Collection of the Central Military Club entitled "Poetics and the Fate of the 20th Century" has been opened tonight in the Cedomir Krstic Gallery in Pirot. The exhibition, authored by art historian Nikola Kusovac and Milorad Bubanja, former director of the Gallery of the Central Military Club, includes the works of artists from the former Yugoslav area.
At the opening ceremony, those present were addressed by Major Borko Lepojevic on behalf of Odbrana Media Centre, who particularly emphasized that the exhibition has been seen so far by about 30,000 visitors during its visits to Novi Sad, Nis, Pozarevac, Jagodina, Vrsac, Zrenjanin, Sombor and Smederevska Palanka, and that he was honoured that the audience in Pirot had also had the opportunity to get acquainted with the works of famous painters.
- We will be happy to show you in the future other exhibitions from our collection as well, such as "Mirror of time", "Reading lines," "Confessions of Yugoslav modern art", "Small stories from the Great War," and to host all of you, when the road brings you to Belgrade, in the Gallery of the Central Military Club, which is open throughout the year.
Radmila Vlatkovic, Director of the Cedomir Krstic Gallery, pointed out that it was great honour that the Gallery had the opportunity to host the exhibition of the house which, in recent years, has become one of the most renowned exhibiting institutions in the Serbian capital.
Jelena Knezevic, head of the Gallery of the Central Military Club, spoke about the authors and their works displayed, and the visitors in Pirot were presented 44 works from the collection.
- The selection we made was directed towards offering us aesthetically pleasant experience, because we live in time of the so-called postmodern art. We tried by this exhibition to preserve the spirit of creating, free of anything that destroys. Our artists who knew how to make what they need to make in the picture, whom we are presenting to you tonight, left a serious mark, and they never agreed to destroy anything without offering a new value, Ms Knezevic said.
The exhibition will be open on a tour in Pirot until 25th July 2016.
