Premiere of the documentary film "The Ancient Easter Traditions"
In the Central Military Club, today, a documentary film by Milos Meljanac entitled "The Ancient Easter Traditions" has been premiered. It is the story of the ecclesiastical phenomenon in the area of a small Dalmatian village called Vrlike, in which spirituality and folk traditions are imbued.
The origin of the phenomenon of the Guardians of the Grave of Christ in Vrlika, modeled on such custom in Jerusalem, is explained in the film by various interlocutors, such as Prof Veljko Djuric Misina, Prof. Milan Radovanovic, Radovan Pilipovic, MSc, Nebojsa Malesevic, while Mile Bjelajac, PhD, Director of the Institute for Recent History of Serbia spoke about that at the premiere, besides the author of the film, noting that this film is important primarily because of cherishing the culture of remembrance of the Serbian history and somewhat forgotten customs.
In his speech, Milos Meljanac, as author of the film, but also the president of the Association "From the old Serbian tombs to the roadside ", which initiated the event today, especially thanks to the Ministry of Defense and the Media Center "Defense" for their support in the promotion of events dealing with the preservation of Serbian cultural heritage. He also expressed hope that the film "ancient Easter tradition" would be a starting point and a valuable source for future and more extensive ethnographic and historical research.
The event, which was attended by many guests, song and recital beautify the chanter Ljubomir Ljuba Manasijević and poet Jelena Katic.
