In the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club, today, an original exhibition by Lieutenant Colonel Sasa Mickovic entitled "Through Kinshasa" has been opened. A surgeon by profession, Mickovic recorded in his photo records the life of the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in which he spent more than half a year as a member of the Serbian Armed Forces in the UN medical service mission in that country.

Opening the exhibition, Colonel Milivoje Pajovic, Shief of the Peacekeeping Operations Centre of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff said that Lieutenant Colonel Mickovic, staying on two occasions as a peacemaker on the African continent, managed to recognize and single out by clinical precision, and depict in his photographs everyday life in the local community.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Krupez, Deputy Director of Odbrana Media Centre, it is the first exhibition in the upcoming season. He pointed out that the author managed with his photo records to match the unmatchable – to take all the visitors of the gallery to Kinshasa, at least for a moment, but also and to bring the spirit of Kinshasa to Belgrade.

Referring to the circumstances in which the photographs were taken, Lieutenant Colonel Sasa Mickovic, the author of the exhibition, said that, as a chief of the air medical evacuation team, he was able daily to encounter rich colours, but also the hard life of people in that African country. He also pointed out that this is his second exhibition of photographs, as he was first introduced as an author by exhibition in the National Museum in Vranje.

The motives of everyday life, which are the focus of this exhibition, witness the lives of the people in the street, the market, on the river, in a fishing village, depicting the culture and pulsing life in a distant city on the African continent.

Those interested may visit the exhibition entitled "Through Kinshasa" in the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club every day until 9 September 2016, except Sunday, from 11 am to 19 pm.
