In the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club, tonight, the ‘Sopocani sightings’ exhibition has opened, prepared by Odbrana Media Centre in cooperation with Novi Pazar Cultural Centre. These are the artistic works of the participants in the jubilee 40th edition of the Art Colony which was held near the monastery of Sopocani, during the summer last year.

The speakers at the opening ceremony were Lieutenant Colonel Zoran Krupez, Deputy Director of Odbrana Media Centre, and Amra Hodzic Jejna, editor of the fine arts programme of Novi Pazar Cultural Centre, and the exhibition was opened by Olivera Vukotic, an art historian, who is also a selector of the exhibition.

"We are honoured to host in the gallery of the Central Military Club the artists whose work achieved high levels, both in terms of artistic value and the number of works, and to present to you, who regularly follow our exhibitions, a selection of the best works of this Colony" – the Deputy Director of Odbrana Media Centre said.

"The Art Colony has an undeniable significance in the culture of the entire region. Therefore, in the recent years, the event has been funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, which facilitated the entire organization of the exhibition", Amra Hodzic Jejna, editor of the art programme of Novi Pazar Cultural Centre explained, pointing out that it was a great honour for her that the exhibition was opened in the Central Military Club.

Collection of the Colony includes 450 works of artists of different sensibilities, but the exhibition also presents the achievements of ten authors. Olivera Vukotic, selector of the exhibition, spoke about the artists individually. "I wanted to show that the colonies are not an outdated thing, regardless of the fact that there are less and less of them with poor investments. That is why I am proud of the organization of the colony, and in particular of the authors", Mrs. Vukotic said.

All those who are interested can see the ‘Sopocani sightings’ exhibition until 1st October 2016 in the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club, every day except Sunday, from 11 am to 19 pm.
