‘Our Lady's concert’ held

On the occasion of the Feast of the Nativity of Our Most Holy Lady, the Theotokos, at the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club tonight, the ‘Our Lady's concert’ was held. The audience was presented: ‘Vezak’ Vocal Ensemble, ‘St. Simeon the Peacemaker’ Choir, ‘Alleluia’ Vocal Ensemble and the Choir of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

Under the direction of Maja Aleksic, the Vezak ensemble, which is a branch of the choir of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God at the Temple of Venerable Mother Paraskeva in Surcin, proved once again, before the numerous lovers of sacred music, that the "Special Mention" (in the category of vocal ensembles) of this year's 22nd Festival of Sacred music "Choirs among Frescoes" was deservedly won.

The repertoire of the ‘St. Simeon the Peacemaker’ mixed choir has presented tonight the following songs ‘Dostojno jest’ (It is with dignity), ‘Bogorodice Djevo’ (Virgin Mother), ‘Symbol of faith’... This choir, currently conducted by Milica Tisma, was founded in 1997 with the primary responsibility to participate in the vigil on the eve of the feast of St. Simeon the Peacekeeper, the patron Saint’s day of the  patriarchal chapel of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade.

Although young, the ‘Alleluia’ Vocal Ensemble, headed by Milica Radivojevic. achieved in a relatively short time a rich repertoire and significant results. The ensemble is composed of the female trio, which is part of the choir of mixed composition of the same name, founded with the aim of investigating the Orthodox spiritual music. The name of the Ensemble ‘Alleluia’, is a word of Jewish origin and means "Praise the Lord" which presents the basic idea of this musical ensemble.

In the end, the Choir of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, under the baton of Katarina Bozic, presented itself to the audience. This choir, which includes professional members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and their family members, was established at the Stanislav Binicki Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence on the 1st February 2016. The first all-evening concert of sacred music was performed by the choir exactly in the Central Military Club on the occasion of this year's Easter. The performance was very much noticed by the general public and the renowned Belgrade Music critics.
