Annual awards of MC Odbrana
On the occasion of the celebration of the Media Center "ODBRANA" - 24 January, when in 1879 "Warrior", the first military newspaper in Serbia was launched, traditional annual awards were awarded for the best athletes of the Serbian Army, Journalism Prize "Ivan Markovic" and awards to the most successful journalist and associate of "ODBRANA" for 2012.
The aim of the award Journalist Awards "Ivan Markovic" is to encourage journalists covering the activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Army to report in national print and broadcast media on the activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, as a public recognition and verification of their creativity thus remembering Ivan Markovic, one of the most gifted military reporters and editors of “Vojska", which in 2003. years died suddenly after 43 age.
The panel of judges decided that the Journalism Award "Ivan Markovic" for 2012 be awarded to Ivan Lovric, journalist of "Vecernje Novosti" for his text "Jelen (deer) faster than the sound," published in "Vecernje Novosti" on 28 October 2012.
The opinion of the panel of judges says that "this award is to be presented for contribution to the section Destiny in a Belgrade daily and for his research efforts in fostering awareness, well-established tradition, belonging to the military in several generations. The story about the "service in the skies" in the Jelen family is kind of a media contribution to a centenary of military aviation in Serbia (1912 - 2012).
The panel of judges presented the award for journalism awards "Ivan Markovic", consisting of Borivoj Erdeljan correspondent "Politika" in retirement (Chairman), V. Djurovic, a war cameraman, a lecturer at the University of Arts, Dejan Miljkovic, journalist of "Beta" news agency, Stanoje Jovanovic, former director and editor in chief of the "Vojska" and Colonel Milivoje Pajovic, Head of Public Relations of the Ministry of Defence.
When choosing the best athletes and sports teams, the panel of judges had the basic criteria as participation and results at international and national sporting events by their importance, as well as participation in competitions sponsored by CISM (Counseil International Sports Militaire), the number of competitions with the participation of candidates and present character of the Army of Serbia in accordance with the Code of Honor.
After reviewing the proposals the members of the panel of judges unanimously decided that the sportsman of the Serbian Army in 2012 are Mariana Cegar Lukic, who last year achieved outstanding sports results - first place at the Regional Military Semi Marathon Championships in Apatin first place at the Regional Military Championships in mountain running in Dimitrovgrad, first in the Army Semi Marathon Championships in Serbia, and significant investments in other national and international sports events.
For the best sports team of the Serbian Army in 2012 the judges selected the team of the Training Command in the military all-around competition, which won a sports championship of the Serbian Army, placing sixth at the European Championships in the all-around competition in Austria, and team members are the basis of the team of SAF military pentathlon.
The jury is composed of Colonel Dragan Djini, head of the Department of Military Sports Military Academy, also a member of the Delegation of Serbia at the CISM (Chairman), Colonel Zoran Scekic, from the office of the Minister of Defense, a member of the CISM Delegation of Serbia, Major Vladimir Pocuc, deputy chief editor of the magazine "Odbrana," Lieutenant Velisa Vukasevic, officer in the SAF GS Department for Sports in the Training and Doctrine Command and Staff Sergeant Dejan Vukojevic from the Training Center of the Army, last year's winner of the "Athlete of the Serbian Army."
For the most successful magazine journalist "Odbrana" of the newsroom colleagues chose Biljana Miljić and the most outstanding associate is Milosevic Krsman, a historian, retired general.
The awards will be presented at a ceremony on the occasion of the Media Center "Odbrana", 24 January in the Central Military Club in Belgrade, Serbia.
