Promotion of photo monograph "Suffering of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Independent State of Croatia"
In the Conference Hall of the Central Military Club, today, promotion of a photo monograph "Suffering of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Independent State of Croatia" was held. It is a historical-documentary work presenting to public comprehensive data on the suffering of Serbian churches, the clergy and the Serbian people in the Independent State of Croatia.
On that occasion, Bishop of Pakrac and Slavonia Jovan (Ćulibrk), academician Ljubodrag Dimić, historian Dr. Predrag J. Marković, editor of the publishing company "World of Book" Stevo Ćosović, as well as the author Jovan Mirkovic himself, spoke about the work.
Talking about the bilingual photo monograph, which collected on more than 600 pages of data and the biographies of 227 Serbian priests, of whom majority were killed in their homes, churches, or in the camps, the speakers at today's promotion agreed in their assessments that this work should serve as a sort of testimony, but also a reminder of the suffering and atrocities that must not disappear under the veil of oblivion.
Today's promotion in the Central Military Club was completed with musical interpretation by Svetlana Spajic, Smilja Kotur and Dragana Tomic.
The primary focus of the historiographical work of Jovan Mirković, the author of the photo monograph "Suffering of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Independent State of Croatia", is the genocide against the Serbian people in the Independent State of Croatia, and besides more than fifty papers in collections of papers and magazines, among his works the most prominent are the study entitled "Published sources and literature about Jasenovac camps" and the photo monograph "Crimes against Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia".
