Books presented to students in Sombor
Within the promotion of military profession and on the occasion of the schools' patron saint's day – Saint Sava's Day, gift packages of books have been delivered to school libraries of the School of Mechanical Engineering in Pančevo and Economic School in Sombor, today, at the proposal of the Minister of Defence, Zoran Đorđević.
Brigadier General Zoran Veličković, Special Brigade Commander, presented the Director of Mechanical Engineering School in Pancevo, Miodrag Ilić, with a gift pack with 101 books published by Odbrana Media Centre.
"Book is a powerful weapon, expands knowledge and horizons, enriches, urges to thinking, explains history and protects tradition. It makes us better people", General Veličković said on that occasion.
At the ceremony in Sombor School of Economics, gift package of books was handed by Colonel Stevica Karapandžin, Director of Odbrana Media Centre.
"In the days when competitions for admission to military schools are announced, we wish to bring closer military profession to the high school youth through what they need most - and these are books", Colonel Karapandžin said.
The ceremony was attended by students and teachers of the School of Economics, representatives of Western Bačka district, local government, and Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Orbović, Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces First Training Centre in Sombor.
