The Fantastic Robert Schumann in the Central Club of the Serbian Armed Forces

The concert, that has just finished in the hall of the Central Club of the Serbian Armed Forces brimming with people showed yet again why Robert Schumann was a bit untypical composer of his age and why the performances of the Artistic Ensemble of the Serbian Armed Forces “Stanislav Binički” are a mandatory event in the schedule of any serious music lover.

The concert which once again proved that classical music scores fit the “Binički“extremely well, at least as much as military marches do, was conducted by a young conductor Dušan Vilić, a diverse musician who is familiar with solo singing, who plays organ as well and who was the post graduate student of the Moscow Conservatoire “Tchaikovsky” and Conservatoire “Rimsky-Korsakov” from Petersburg.

“The Evening with Schumann” was opened with the dramatic “Manferd”, an overture which the German composer, being a writer himself obsessed with literature, wrote for the poem of his friend, the great poet Byron.

The extraordinary pianist Natalija Mladenović performed in the following part of the concert. She was also a student of the Moscow conservatoire “Tchaikovsky” and on this occasion as piano soloist she played “the Concert for Piano and Orchestra in a minor”. The inspired performance showed once more why Schumann was a master of piano, and why some consider him to have been an untypical creator. Placing staccatos and ritardandos in unexpected places, and giving his minors strength and drama of a major, Robert Schumann in a way tore down usual forms.

This classical music holiday was concluded symbolically by the “Spring Symphony”, enthusiastically and inviting both the spring to which we are looking forward, and the audience to some other musical holiday that the “Binički“ would offer to the music lovers.
