Promotion of the Book “Road to Sarajevo”
Last night, in the Atrium of the Central Club of the Serbian Armed Forces, a book by John Rawls “Road to Sarajevo” published by Media Centre “Odbrana” and publishing house “Klio”.The work which is a result of a fifty years long scientific research and dedication to the study of modern German history was commented by historians Mile Bjelajac, Predrag J. Marković and Veljko Stanić.
The three historians agreed that the book sums up the ideas, interpreted hypothesis and grounded conclusions at which Professor Rawls arrived during his rich career. It speaks about the unusual persona of German Kaiser, his political and ideological orientations and about the role that he had in ruling the imperial Germany in the years prior to the First World War but it also brings nuanced portraits of leading German statesmen and military leaders.
“Road to Sarajevo” represents deliberations on the appearance and meaning of the new revisionism in modern historiography, lifting the blame for the war from German political and military leadership, but also about the overall place that the First World War has in the history of Europe, shedding light on such an important period of modern history in which the old continent disappeared.
