This exhibition presents a representative selection of works from the Art Collection of the Gallery of the Central Club of Serbian Armed Forces, and it consists of 35 graphic works of eminent artists who marked Yugoslav and Serbian art of 50s, 60s and 70s of the 20th century: Boško Karanović, Božidar Jakac, Đorđe Andrejević Kun, Lazar Vujaklija, France Mihelić, Branko Šotra, Emir Dragulј, Branko Milјuš and other. The oldest print by Boško Karanović dates back in 1954, while the latest one is from the end of the first decade of this century. Radmila Vlatković, Director of the Gallery Čedomir Krstić, welcomed the guests from the capital, for whom, that had been the second time in a row to present their work in Pirot. Namely, last summer, the Media Centre “Odbrana” presented itself by an exhibition “Poetics and Faith of the 20th Century”.

Apart by Radmila Vlatković, the gathered audience was informed about the details of the exhibition and the work of the Gallery of the Central Club of Serbian Armed Forces by the Head of Division for Joint Work – Lieutenant Colonel Biljana Pašić and the Head of Gallery of the Central Club of Serbian Armed Forces, art historian and senior curator, Jelena Knežević.

The collection of the Central Club of Serbian Armed Forces was created mainly by means of purchases made at one-man or group exhibitions, as well as by donated art works from the very artists who exhibited in the Gallery.

The stylistic and poetic pluralism is present in all branches of art from the 1950s until now and as such it can be fully perceived in the media of graphics. Artistic expressions oscillate in different domains from realism, over expressionism to the abstract. On that road, one finds himself in the field of metaphysics, fantasy, new figuration and surrealism, as dominant tendencies. Besides stylistic and performing diversity, Yugoslav graphics area is characterised by thematic diversity as well which adds particular value to this graphic discipline of this area.

In the panorama of developments that marked graphic art in these parts in the sixth, seventh and eight decade, whose protagonists are presented at this exhibition, the Gallery of the Central Club of Serbian Armed Forces has, through its work and creation of the graphic collection, played a huge part. Selected graphic prints and their authors represent graphic art of the period and as such they are an inevitable part of Yugoslav art. Also, they confirm that regional borders did not exist in graphic art. Through the activities of the presented artists, graphic art won its freedom, gained equality and laid foundation for modern graphic expression.
