New issue of ODBRANA

At the ceremony in front of the House of the National Assembly, on 9th September, the youngest second lieutenants of the Serbian Armed Forces were promoted. A number of 187 male and female cadets of the 138th class of the Military Academy and the 3rd class of the Military Medical Academy Medical Faculty received the first officer's ranks. Lieutenant General Aleksandar Živković continues to enjoy a great reputation in the Serbian Armed Forces, despite the fact that his professional service ended several years ago. His appointment as Secretary of State in the Ministry of Defence was more than a pleasant surprise for all those who advocated the idea that the voice of the profession must be heard more in the defence system. In an interview for “Odbrana” journal, State Secretary Živković says, among other things, that it is interesting that the increased number of calls to training of the reserve element this year caused a real storm in the public and a variety of reactions. These calls, he said, are not related to the security situation, but with the fact that there are conditions for maintaining and improving the training level of conscripts. Only a trained soldier can adequately respond to the assigned tasks and be useful to him and those who he should defend against any kind of danger, Živković believes.

On the occasion of the Artillery Day, the representatives of "Odbrana" journal visited the Mixed Artillery Brigade, which celebrates its holiday on the same date, and they spoke with its commander, Colonel Zvonko Stojković.
