Exhibition "Nadezda Petrovic: on both sides of the lens" opens
Exhibition "Nadezda Petrovic: on both sides of the lens" by Jasna Jovanov, PhD, Director of the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski has been opened tonight at the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club. The exhibition was a result of many years of her research work that represents the painter in a new way.
Speakers at the opening ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina and Provincial Secretary for Culture and Public Information Slavisa Grujic., Director of the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski Jasna Jovanov and Director of the "Odbrana" Media Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Slavoljub Markovic.
"Nadezda Petrovic was engaged in photography, it was her passion, she could not separate from the camera. Tonight we have the opportunity, after the exhibition within the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski, to present her photographic oeuvre here in the Central Military Club as well. This is just a cross section of her work at this point in time, what we have managed to find out so far about Nadezda Petrovic as a photographer", Dr. Jasna Jovanov said.
"Somebody said that Nadezda Petrovic is the first woman photographer, and I would say – just a photographer. She belongs to the pleiad of photographers, who left a record for all times. That is how the entire exhibition should be seen", Slavisa Grujic said.
Lieutenant Colonel Markovic recalled the successful cooperation with the Memorial Collection in the previous year, the exhibition "Pavle Beljanski again in Belgrade" in the Great Gallery of the Central Military Club and the exhibition of paintings from the rich treasure of the Central Military Club "Poetics and the fate of the 20th century" in the exhibition hall of the Memorial Collection.
- In autumn we will be preparing together another big project, the Director of the Media Center announced, and Dr. Jasna Jovanov explained what was it all about – presenting of painting of Vlah Bukovac "Great Isa" and the story about it.
The exhibition was made possible thanks to cooperation with the family of Nadezda Petrovic and many individuals and institutions in Serbia and Slovenia, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia and the Secretariat of Culture and Public Information of the Government of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
During the exhibition, professional interpretations, lectures, screenings of documentaries and children's workshops will be organized and the exhibition is open until 13 April 2013, every day except Sunday, from 11.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. Admission is free.
