Bazaar of solidarity with the people treated for cancer



Today, at the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club Bazar solidarity with people treated for cancer was held under the slogan: "Look around you, we need your attention", organized by the National Association of people treated for cancer in Serbia – NALOR.

- The citizens of Serbia are needed in that big and comprehensive combat, which means health promotion, early diagnosis of the disease and their quality treatment. There are no better ambassadors of health than the participants in this bazaar today – Minister of Health, Prof. Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic said. The Minister recalled the fact that breast cancer mortality of 17.5 percent is much higher than in the developed countries, and stressed the importance of prevention. At the same time, she noted that ny such events the victors do not challenge but they invite people to make the right steps in the struggle for the victory of life, so they should be supported in all the activities they carry out.

The idea to hold a bazaar was explained by Primarius Dr. Djerdji Saric, an oncologist and president of NALOR. The aim was to show how great prejudice is that cancer is incurable, and even more that the diagnosis of cancer is also the symbol for death. Dr. Stanislav Otasevic spoke about the work of the NALOR association.

The meeting was opened by Dragica Nikolic, wife of the President of the Republic of Serbia. - I'd like you to be introduced to all those who need your help, so that they can feel that strength of yours and will to live and fight against superior enemy, Mrs Nikolic said, and encouraged the participants in the meeting to persist in actions aimed at improving the quality of life of people treated for cancer and that this event becomes a tradition.

The Bazaar presented 10 associations that brings together people treated for cancer throughout Serbia – from Sombor, Uzice, Belgrade, Vrnjacka Banja, Backa Topola, Leskovac, Senta and Kanjiza. In addition to presentations, that event had also the selling character. Representatives of these associations have presented their handicrafts, artistic paintings and food products.
