Peter Handke visits Gallery of the Central Military Club
The winner of this year's "Momo Kapor" award, Austrian writer Peter Handke, visited today the exhibition of drawings, pastels and illustrations of that famous painter and author of "Memories of a Cartoonist" in the Great Gallery of the Central Military Club.
On that occasion, the Austrian writer said that the pictures of Momo Kapor are masterpieces that express connection between writing and painting, and that connection is very exciting. – I could watch them for a long time, especially the portraits of the poets. These are not cartoons, this is something even better, this is an experience of these people's characters – Handke pointed out.
In memory of today's visit, the Director of Odbrana Media Centre Colonel Slavoljub Markovic gave the Austrian writer a monograph "The Serbian Armed Forces".
Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic awarded Handke today the Gold Medal of Merit in public and cultural activities. At today's ceremony, President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation "Momcilo Momo Kapor", Mr Matija Bećković, gave the Austrian writer a silver medal, which is awarded for the third year in a row, for his work "Moravian Night".
Exhibition "Memories of a Cartoonist" was organized on the occasion of the third anniversary of death of our distinguished painter and writer, and is the result of cooperation between the Foundation "Momcilo Momo Kapor" and Odbrana Media Centre.
