Opening of Exhibition entitled Through Heroism to Fame in the Gallery of the Central Military Club



Exhibition of paintings and photographs collectively entitled Through Heroism to Fame and subtitled Balkan Wars in the works of artists from the collection of the Military Museum and A Serbian soldier in the First Balkan War of 1912-1913, will be officially opened in the Great Gallery of the Central Military Club in Belgrade, on Monday 15th April at 2:00 p.m.

With this exhibition, Odbrana Media Centre in collaboration with the Military Museum, Serbian academia and PU "Official Gazette" makes its contribution to the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Balkan wars.

The exhibition will be opened by historian Professor Rados Ljusic, and Lieutenant Colonel Slavoljub Markovic, Director of Odbrana Media Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Ivan Mijatovic, Head of the Military Museum, Ljubica Dabic, a Senior Curator of the Military Museum and Nemanja Devic, representative of the Serbian academic circles, will speak at the opening.

Exhibition of photos by students of history at the University of Belgrade Smiljana Cakarevic, Nemanja Devic, Vojin Maletkovic and Predrag Aranđelovic, gathered at the Serbian academic circles, depicts the life of a Serbian soldier from mobilization and his going to war to the end of war.

Exhibition of paintings and drawings includes works of Serbian war artists from the collection of the Military Museum, which were made during the Balkan wars. The exhibition includes works of Nadezda Petrovic, Mihajlo Milovanovic, Natalia Cvetkovic and Peter Ranosovic. The author of the exhibition is Ljubica Dabic, a Senior Curator of the Military Museum.

The exhibition is open until 30 April 2013. Working hours of the Gallery of the Central Military Club was every day except Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00 hours. Admission is free.

18th April at 5:00 p.m. “Balkan Wars and organisation of the liberated parts of Serbia”, Prof. Milos Kovic.

23rd April at 5:00 p.m. “Serbian military medical services in the Balkan Wars”, Dr Aleksandar Nedok.

24th April at 5:00 p.m. “War for the Sea”, Dr Milic Milicevic.

29th April at 5:00 p.m. "Forgotten Heroes", Nemanja Devic – Serbian academic circles.


Literary program

25th April at 5:00 p.m. Promotion of the book "Serbian Komiti from 1903 to 1912" by Stevan Simic. Speakers about the book: Priest Milorad Sredojevic and Dr Dmitar Tasic.

26th April at 5:00 p.m. Promotion of the book "Battle over the centuries – hundred years from the Battle of Kumanovo". Speakers about the book: Miso Vujovic, Director and Editor in Chief "Princip Press".

Music and stage program

19th April at 5:00 p.m. Minstrel’s poetic evening. Participants: minstrel Savo Kontic and VI Belgrade high school students.

Film Programme

30th April at 5:00 p.m. Screening of the film "Kumanovo battle, blood and mist," SENSE Production.
