"Poetics and the fate of the 20th Century" at the City Museum in Vrsac



Painting Exhibition "Poetics and the fate of the 20th century", from the collection of the Central Military Club, was officially presented tonight also to the art lovers in Vrsac, after it was presented in Jagodina.

- This exhibition is a continuation of the cooperation of the Museum of Vrsac and Odbrana Media Centre within which the Central Military Club operates. After a fabulous exhibition of portraits from the Collection of the City Museum, which was on display in the Central Military Club last year, this is a return exhibition for the art lovers in Vrsac to provide an opportunity for them to see just part of a rich collection that is stored in our Collection, which has been developing for over 60 years. During this time, more than 500 exhibitions of prominent artists from the former Yugoslavia were organized in our Gallery – the Director of the Odbrana Media Centre Colonel Slavoljub Markovic said speaking about the art collection of the Central Military Club, which accounts for more than one thousand five hundred peaces of art, and whose the promotion began last year.

- Thanks to this return visit by the Gallery of the Central Military Club from Belgrade, the Vrsac audience also has the opportunity to enjoy in the 46 outstanding works of art by more than 40 authors. This is a rare opportunity to see in one place works of great artists of the Yugoslav post-war painting, and that adds up to the importance of this exhibition, the Director of the Museum of the City of Vrsac Anita Medaković pointed out thanking to the representatives of the Odbrana Media Centre on the organization of the exhibition.

Art historian Nikola Kusovac, opening the exhibition, stressed the importance of organizing such an artistic event in the city as the Vrsac is.

- Only one who knows where he came, and what Vrsac represents on the cultural map of these parts can assess the importance of presenting these setting exactly in Vrsac. When you know the history of this area that includes many famous painters, it is clear that you cannot come empty-handed. Luckily, our brave army has something to show, and it brought to the walls of your gallery only the artistic peaks of what was happening on the territory from Triglav to Gevgelija. Nothing could be done better – Kusovac said about the works exhibited at the City Museum in Vrsac, in which the local art lovers will be able to enjoy until 11 May.

The exhibition was hosted in several cities in Serbia, and after Vrsac it will move to Lazarevac, and then proceeds its journey around museums, galleries and cultural institutions with which Odbrana Media Centre established cooperation.
