Opening the exhibition 100 works from Djuro Popovic’s collection



On Friday, 17 May 2013, at 7:00 p.m., in the Gallery of the Central Military Club, the exhibition entitled 100 works from Djuro Popovic’s collection will be opened.

At the exhibition, which also represents the main programme of the Odbrana Media Centre in the 10th anniversary of the Belgrade Night of Museums, visitors will have the unique opportunity to see a representative selection of the works of art from the rich collection of the Novi Sad collector Djuro Popovic, made by the art historian Nikola Kusovac.

The exhibition includes ninety paintings and ten sculptures, including the works of Konstantin Danilo, Djura Jaksic, Stevan Todorovic, Nikola Aleksic, Jovan Popovic, Djordje Trifunovic, Uros Predic, Stevan Aleksic, Danica Jovanovic, Beta Vukanovic, Krsto Hegedusic, Voja Stanic Živorad Nastasijevic , Mica Popovic, Miodrag Protic, Mladen Srbinovic, Pedja Milosavljevic, Matija Vukovic, Sreten Stojanovic, Antun Augustincic, Jovan Soldatovic and other great personalities of the modern Serbian and Yugoslav art of the 19th and 20th century.

The Belgrade audience will have opportunity to see for the first time a masterpiece of our great poet and painter Duro Jaksic "Beheading of Saint John the Baptist" which was created in1855. Only at the opening of the exhibition and in the Night of Museums the visitors in the Atrium of the Central Military Club will be able to see also in a special display the process of restoration of this painting.

The exhibition will be open until 22 June 2013, every day except Sunday from 11:00 to 19:00.
