A closing ceremony of the exhibition “La Grande Iza of Vlaho Bukovac“
Today at the Central Military Club of Serbian Armed Forces the exhibition “La Grande Iza of Vlaho Bukovac“ has been closed. On that occasion the letters-of-thanks were given to all associates who supported the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski in realizing the project in 2103. For an excellent cooperation proven by many years of experience the Media Centre “Odbrana“ was also awarded the letter-of-thanks while the individual letter-of-thanks received a director of Media Centre, Lieutenant Colonel Slavoljub Marković.
“I am very happy to have had an opportunity to welcome you today in this beautiful building on the occasion of successfully drawing to an end the exhibition “La Grande Iza of Vlaho Bukovac“. That same painting is the reason for our 46th awarding the prize of the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski to the best degree-examination in national art history defended at the Department for Art History of the Philosophy Faculty of the University of Belgrade“ said, in her welcoming address, Dr. Jasna Jovanov, a Director of the Memorial Collection.
Pavle Beljanski has initiated this tradition by presenting the Legate with the painting “La Grande Iza“. The idea was to give young specialists some kind of encouragement at the beginning of their careers. This time the prize was awarded to Senka Latinović for her graduation theme “Belgrade cafés as a potential cultural goods“ defended under the Prof. Dr. Dragan Bulatović.
“In her work she studied the possibility that contemporary phenomena such as Belgrade cafés should be understood as the bearers of cultural values“ said Dr. Saša Brajović who presented the prize winner with the prize.
“The meaning should not be sought only in preserving tradition but in creating it as well“ is the citation by which Senka Latinović summarized her work and which guided her throughout the process of its realization.
The decision that she should be awarded the prize this year was brought by a prize-awarding committee consisting of: Mr. Tijana Palkovljević Bugarski, Director of the Matica Srpska Gallery, as a President of the Commission, then Dr. Milan Popadić and Mr. Igor Borozan from the Department for Art History of the Philosophy Faculty in Belgrade, Dragana Marković, Head of the Publishing Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia and Dr. Jasna Jovanov, Director of the Memorial Collection of Pavle Beljanski.
During the month and a half the exhibition was seen by over 6 thousand visitors.
