Bienalle of naive and marginal art opens



Exhibition " 16 Biennial of Naïve and Marginal Art "opened tonight at the gallery of the Serbian Army. This year's Biennale is characterized by high turnout and the emergence of young artists from the new environment , which provides a development perspective this type of painting.

The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of artists , representatives of embassies in Belgrade and fans of Naïve and Marginal Art .

The exhibition was opened by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Information , Miladin Lukic , and speeches were delivered by the Director of the Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art in Jagodine Nina Krstic and director of the Media Center's "Defense" LTC Slavoljub Markovic.

Miladin Lukic said the tradition of the Biennial of Naïve and Marginal Art and efforts to institutionalize a free and open art .

- Maybe it's a way to break free from obscurity and to demonstrate its unparalleled originality and simplicity of language . Such art should be shown to all and to break away from everyday life , Lukic said and thanked the organizers , especially the Army House , which, according to him, on the cultural map of Belgrade has become an indispensable item .

Lt. Col. Markovic reminded the present of the good cooperation with the Museum of Jagodine which runs from last year , and expressed his great honor as the House of the Serbian Army an opportunity to organize an exhibition of an international character .

It is a great challenge and experience of experts to monitor the continuity of the development of naïve and marginal art , not only in Serbia but in all the major centers of development and specific art, said Nina Krstic. She stressed the importance of the Biennale as one of the most important international event in the world, in its domain.

In the evening's opening presented the awards jury of 16 Biennial Prize and the Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art . This is a special certificate that bears the name of the famous artist Otto Bihalji - Merina and prizes for the overall work of art. Awards were handed by the chairman of the panel of judges Nadezhda Musjankova , an art historian from the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.

Grand Prize for the exhibited works were given to Sue Prince (England ) and Merdad Rashid (Iran / Germany ), special recognition for the exhibited works were presented Ermelinda de Almeida (Brazil ) and Srboslav Ilic ( Serbia ) , recognition of the exhibited works received the Vladimir Smiljanic ( Serbia ), and the award is also given to the winners from England , Sue Prins .

Art lovers have the opportunity to see the 92 selected works of 64 artists from Serbia , Montenegro, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Czech Republic , Italy, France , Germany, Denmark , England, Russia , Japan, USA and Brazil.

Biennial of Naïve and Marginal Art , organized by the Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art in Jagodine - cultural institutions of national importance , is the manifestation of that since 1981. The traditionally held every other year. The exhibition is open until 12 December.
