Electronic edition on bioterrorism
The first electronic edition of the defense system , " Bioterrorism - Prevention and Response " by prof . Dr. Elizabeth Ristanović was presented today at the Conference Hall of the Central Military Club . The presentation was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Army of Serbia , followed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs , foreign military representatives accredited in our country , the cadets of the Military Academy , many friends and guests .The book , which was created in cooperation of the University of Defence , Military Academy and the Media Center "Odbrana " , was presented by prof . Dragan Simeunović, prof . Branko Krga , Major General Prof . Dr. Mladen Vuruna , Lt. Gen. prof . Dr. Miodrag Jevtic and the author . The guests were welcomed by the Head of Media Center " Odbrana " Dragana Markovic , members of the band Legende, Professor Nikola Rackov , the piano , and OliverNjego, a celebrated opera singer accompanied the presentation as part of the music part of the programme.
Professor Simeunović said that the author had devoted more than two decades to biomedicine at the Military Academy , and it is an important to study of that which is possible , feasible and which can be prevented. He explained the phenomenon of terrorism and bioterrorism , as well as the emergence of a terrorist.- I hope that the book will find its place not only in universities but also in other institutions . If the knowledge of the world unite , we can defeat such evil as terrorism , because a handful of people destroys the lives of billions of poeple , concluded Professor Simeunović .
The electronic edition of the book is a kind of avant-garde especially as it relates to the problems that it deals with and its form, as professor Krga said .
- The topic of bioterrorism concerns all of us . It is a global challenge , risk and threat , regardless of whether we are thoroughly familiar with these issues and it is for us a completely unknown topic. The book is a modern edition and I believe that in a short time this kind of publishing of such scientific papers represent a regular practice , said the professor , adding that the author has managed to take a further step towards devising how to transfer content remotely, with the help of modern technology .This electronic monograph consists of themes dealt with in theory and practice as well as critically and interactively , during the process in teaching the subject at the Military Academy of Bioterrorism Defense University .
Elizabeta Ristanović presented , along with video presentation , a book consisting of two thematic areas . She pointed out that , considering the importance of the problem and the need for modernization of the educational process at the Military Academy and the University of Defence , with the support of the Center for Simulation and distance learning , and the addition of new multimedia content she has created two thematic courses - Introduction to Bioterrorism and Bioterrorism - prevention and response . Due to the timeliness and importance of the global problem of bioterrorism, there was great interest in the project , and we expect translations into several languages .The Chief of the Military Academy Major General Mladen Vuruna praised the work of Professor Ristanović and pointed out that the electronic edition of the textbook is something the students need during studies.
- These are the young people who keep up with the times and technology development , but in a way, they need to know more than us and this is one way for this kind of progress. Books and courses are fully integrated into the future plans of the Military Academy , said the general Vuruna .
Rector of the University of Defence Jevtic said the professor Ristanović had enough strength and courage to cope with a complicated topic such as bioterrorism . He added that today this promotion is just one of the activities which the University of Defence marked the third year of existence.- This act shows our commitment to the introduction of the most advanced teaching standards related to distance learning , as well as the further development of international and regional academic cooperation and strengthening national capacity , said the rector .
The importance of this entire project is best evidenced by the fact that , in cooperation with the Jefferson Institute completed the preparation of this textbook is to set the platform for learning, a great interest in this project was expressed by the experts in this field from Norway .
