Concert in honour of Vojislav Bubisa Simic



On the occasion of celebrating 70 years of artistic work and 90th birthday of Vojislav Simic Bubisa, conductor, composer, arranger and publicist, a concert has been organised tonight in the Central Military Club of the Serbian Armed forces.

Under the baton of the legend of the Serbian jazz scene, "Stanislav Binički" Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence, performed as the host of the celebration.

"By organizing the concert, Ministry of Defence has shown that, when it comes to art, it takes the right position and recognizes the value of artists, such as our tonight's honouree", presenter Aleksandra Paladin pointed out in her welcome speech.

The program began with "Cheerful march" written by Bubiša Vojislav Simic and conducted by Pavle Medakovic

"When we are celebrating the anniversary of a musician, how else can we start it bur with the music, and when we are in the house of "Stanislav Binički" Art Ensemble then it has to be a march," the host said.

Then followed other compositions recognizable for Bubis Simic: Autumn ballad, The shadow of your smile, Holiday strings, Fly me to the moon, Brazil, Liber Tango, Big city waltz, Fair in Vranje and many others.

Special guests have taken care of the audience to have a good time – Nada Pavlovic, Beti Djordjevic, pianist Slobodan Markovic, Ivan Ilic on trombone, trumpet Dragoslav Stanisavljevic - Freddy and Ljubisa Paunic, tenor saxophone.

After tonight's performance, musicians, with a cake and candles, wished Bubisa to live as long to celebrate the next decade in the same way.
