An Evening of Tchaikovsky in the Central Military Club
"Stanislav Binički" Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence held tonight, in the Conference Hall of the Central Military Club, a concert evening dedicated to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Russian composer of the late Romantic era, author of ballet, opera and symphonic music.
The programme included three opera arias (Aria by Lenski and Gremin Aria from the opera "Onegin" and Jelečki Aria from the opera "Queen of Spades"), Overture of "Romeo and Juliet" and the Concerto for Violin in D major.
Soloists were Danilo Stosic, tenor, Dragoljub Bajic, bass, Dragutin Matic, baritone and Mladen Drenic, violin. The Ensemble was conducted by Ana Zorana Brajovic.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed six symphonies, 11 operas, three ballets, and a large number of instrumental, orchestral and chamber works. His music includes some of the most important pieces from the Romantic period. Numerous works by Tchaikovsky were inspired by the events of his life.
