Avant-garde art period of Milos Babic

In the Great Gallery of the Central Military Club, within the exhibition "Milos Babic, the Balance of Signs" today, Dr. Irina Subotic gave a lecture on the avant-garde period in the art of Milos Babic. She spoke about the avant-garde in Europe and in Babic's works.

- Avant-garde is new tendencies, new requirements in the arts, which have appeared in the early 20th century, first in Russia and then in the rest of Europe. Although Babic's roots are pretty unclear, one thing is certain – the highest mark in his art is exactly the avant-garde creativity, Dr Subotic said.

The lecture was also the expert guidance through that part of the exhibition, which covers the painter's avant-garde phase. These are works with elements of anarchism, rebellion, absurdity, paintings bearing urban character, showing industry, towns, factories, and thus represent a kind of political manifesto of the author.

Finally, Dr. Irina Subotic decided that Milos Babic could hardly be able to participate in group exhibitions with other authors, as he, according to her, does not have a general context, but only subjective logic, and "maybe it is exactly why he is very interesting and so important".

In addition to the fine arts, Milos Babic was also a graphic designer. On Thursday, 10th April, Bojana Popovic, museum consultant in the Museum of Applied Arts, will deliver a lecture on "Graphic Design of Milos Babic" and thus she will round out the story about his creativity.
