Presentation of the book "Logs of Time"

Promotion of the book "Logs of Time" by Darko Tanaskovic, published by "Pravoslavna rec (Orthodox word)" publishing house from Novi Sad, has been held in the Conference Hall of the Central Military Club today.

Speakters about the book were Zoran Gutovic, Director of “Pravoslavna rec”, Vuk Jeremic, President of the Centre for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development, Miroslav Lazanski, journalist of "Politika" daily, Prof. Nenad Kecmanovic, and the author. Moderator in the programme was actress Ljiljana Blagojevic.

Zoran Gutovic pointed out that it was a great honour that the publishing house run by him was presenting the latest release “from the pen of the respected professor Tanaskovic“.

- It is the leading Serbian orientalist and osmanist, and an intellectual whose name is known to wide international circles. The professor has integratet in himself a very successful academic and university career, and not less successful diplomatic one. Only people of wide culture and great knowledge of the highly professional issues know how narrate so clear, using simple language appealing to the ordinary reader. The book "Log of Time" is the evidence supporting this statement, Gutovic said.

According to Vuk Jeremic, there are still not many Serbian diplomats who can be compared with Andric, Rakic and Ducic, but Tanaskovic certainly belongs among such prominent personalities.

- "Logs of Time" is a collection of wisdom and reflection on international relations and cultural phenomena that influence each other. The book is a work of a superior intellectual written in readable language, and this is the kind of a practical manual of the world around us, and is written in such a way to attract interest not only of a professional, but also the general public, Jeremic said.

Miroslav Lazanski recommended the book to everyone because it is a "written proof that all assessments and evaluations of professors Tanaskovic survived the test of time".

- The book is written truthfully with a fine collection of factual data that each diplomat at the beginning of his career, can serve as a guide for the work and thinking, especially of journalists, Lazanski said.

According to Professor Kecmanovic, the author of the foreword to the book, said that he "continued to record observations presented in the preface" and read them to the audience in the promotion.

The author thanked all the contributors who helped completing and publishing of the book, and explained the idea of the unified publishing of the integrated already published articles.

- I wanted to make a small contribution to returning of happiness and smiles of the world to the extent to which I can, and it has to go through the truth only. We cannot make it all relative, and then based on that, to compose some sort of an “own kaleidoscope" that should be our measure of things. No. I hope that by this book, by my overall work, I made a small step towards the fact that, preserving our own identity, our strongholds and axioms of humanity, we can find the measure of things, we can read the world as a great text about interconnectivity, and we can finally find a path by which we can take ourselves and our future to those highlighted areas that now seem to us pretty much far away, Tanaskovic said.

Darko Tanaskovic is one of the rare authors who have a gift to write about complex issues clearly and simply, as evidenced by his new book. This intellectual, intriguing work is composed of thirty texts, which were previously published in several newspapers and weeklies and magazines.
