The exhibition "Battle of Kosovo and the look at the historic role of the Music brothers" opened
On the occasion of marking the centenary of the beginning of the World War I, at the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club, an art exhibition titled “Battle of Kosovo with a look at the historic role of the Musić brothers” organized by Odbrana Media Center in cooperation with the Krusevac National Museum was opened today. The authors of the exhibition are Sanja Rutic, historian curator and Ljubisa Vasiljevic, Mg, senior curator and archeologist.
The exhibition was opened by retired Colonel Rade Rajic, PhD, and speeches at the opening were held by the exhibition’s authors and Lieutenant Colonel Slavoljub Markovic, the Director of Odbrana Media Centre. Tonight’s gathering was also attended by Colonel Petar Boskovic, Head of the Public Relations Department.
According to Sanja Rutic, the exhibition develops a subject seemingly known to everyone, but she stressed that the exhibition reveals a lot of new information as well. Moreover, the author’s goal was to give a historic twist to the subject with the help of literature, because it “has gained a mythical character a long time ago”. Ljubisa Vasiljevic talked about the historic data on the Music brothers, on myths, poems and art paintings where the brothers are the central theme.
Rade Rajic pointed out that the “Kosovo phenomenon” is complex and incorporates four domains, one of which – the world’s history – is processed on the panes of the exhibition.
- Also, the exhibition includes historic facts about the battle, so it is easier to perceive the ethical, spiritual and clerical history. It also provides historic foundations and reminds us in an essential way that we have a commitment to the battle, more than we would want – Rajic said.
Lieutenant Colonel Markovic talked about the cooperation with the Krusevac National Museum.
- Together, we have prepared this exhibition that has been touring cities of Serbia for two years and has been received with great reactions from the audience. This is an example of how a good-quality program can be prepared as a touring exhibition and exchanged with other institutions of culture - Lieutenant Colonel Markovic said.
The exhibition consists of 27 mobile panes representing historic circumstances that preceded the battle, Prince Lazar’s biography, social and political situation in Serbia at the end of the 14th century, a description and schematic representation of the Battle of Kosovo, the family tree of the Hrebeljanovic-Lazarevic Dynasty and the consequences of the Battle of Kosovo. A part of the exhibition is also dedicated to the Music brothers, Prince Lazar’s nephews. The exhibition will be opened until July 5.
