Promocija knjige Zoran Karanikolic u svetu muzikePromotion of the book “Zoran Karanikolic – In the World of Music” by Stanoje Jovanovic was held today at the Gala Hall of the Serbian Central Military Club in Belgrade. This book was published and presented jointly by “Licej” Publishing House, and Media Centre Odbrana. Speeches on the book were given by Prof. Ceda Vuckovic, Zivana Backulja, Aleksandar Matijevic, Jovan Vukotic, Mg, and Radojica Kuzmanovic, who reminded us of the life and work of the distinguished artist. At the end of the program, the audience was also addressed by Prof. Zoran Karanikolic and the author of the book.

The promotion was enriched with the cultural-artistic program of the “Djoka Pavlovic” Cultural-Artistic Association of PTT Serbia, Mira Karanovic, Bora Dugic, Vesna Krsic, Prof. Boki Milosevic, Mg, and Zoran Simonovic.

The night at the Central Military Club started with the folklore dance “Nisko kolo” by Zoran Karanikolic, who had won First Place at the 1969 prestigious folklore music Festival in Ilidza, and the guests were welcomed, on behalf of the author and the organizers, by Zivana Backulja, the writer’s longtime associate and friend. Since music is the meaning and the essence of Zoran Karanikolic’s book, the night was marked with numerous monologues and musical pieces, which, in the best way possible, led the audience into the world of Zoran Karanikolic’s music.

Promocija knjige Zoran Karanikolic u svetu muzikeStanoje Jovanovic’s work is a story about this renowned violinist, successful musical pedagogue, leader of many orchestras, arranger, publicist, composer and actor. Zoran Karanikolic’s eventful life story, where almost seven decades of artistic creation are condensed, brings his musical opus closer to us. It mostly consists of children’s, solo and choir songs, folklore dances, and arrangements for choirs, orchestras and choreography music.

According to Jovanovic, this illustrated monograph represents a concise and a documented way to save many people and events from the musical world from being forgotten. “This is, actually, a chronicle of a time painted from the point of view of participants and beholders with the goal to leave a testimony of that time and those who are now gone and had once marked the cultural-artistic musical history of Serbs”, Jovanovic pointed out.

The promotion, apart from the promotional, also has the humanitarian character. Everything earned from selling the monograph will be donated for flood relief.
