Promotion of the book "Trbusnica - Serbian Height"
The book titled “Trbusnica – Serbian Height” by retired General Milisav Sekulic was publicly presented today at the Atrium of the Central Military Club of Serbia. The promotion was organized by the Union of Serbian warrior's descendants 1912 – 1920.
The book was presented by: Ljubomir Markovic, Chairman of the Union, anthropologist Nada Sekulic, editor of the book Dusan Milovanovic and the author.
Markovic pointed out that chronology provides “answers to all questions”, because the documentations show that the author took the research seriously and wrote all of it down.
- With this monograph, Sekulic saved the memory of the people and the village and built them a monument. He extended life not only for Trbusnica, but for all villages in Serbia – the Union’s Chairman said.
According to the book’s editor, everyone has their stories and heroes, but Trbusnica is an example of getting familiar with the history and faith of Serbia, because everything that was happening in our country reflected on that village.
Nada Sekulic, author’s daughter, studied the book as “good field work”.
- The author wrote the monograph from a very intimate perspective, but avoided subjective approach, and instead provided objective information about the village. The stories about the people are interesting, and so are their collective memories regarding building of identity of Trbusnica. Compliments are due for the book, first and foremost because of the well-mannered treatment of the deceased, which represents one of the ways of developing one people’s culture – the anthropologist said.
Sekulic explained the idea according to which the book was written.
- I wanted to write a history of my surname. However, my friends suggested making that just a part of the book about my village, Trbusnica, which is very important, but of which very little is known. Therefore, I wrote a book about 196 families, only 3 of them native, about the history of the village during the wars and its significance – the author said and thanked his associates.
Participation of citizens of Trbusnica in Serbian liberation wars was described based on archive data including writings on mobilizations, combats, and heroic deeds of units that, among others, included citizens of this village in Loznica Municipality. A special place in the book is given to testimonies and memories of the living citizens of Trbusnica regarding events from the two World Wars.
