Follow-up program of "Danica Jovanovic (1886-1914)" exhibition
Every Saturday, at the Grand Gallery of the Central Military Club, in the course of the exhibition “Danica Jovanovic (1886-1914)”, a follow-up program is being held. Last weekend, visitors had the opportunity to learn how the exhibition was created from the point of view of a curator, and, this Saturday, Tijana Palkovljevic Bugarski, Mg, Manager of the Gallery of Matica Srpska, spoke about Danica’s paintings that are a part of the opus of this gallery.
“As much as 40 paintings and other items in this exhibition belongs to our collection. You are proably wondering how such a large number of Danica Jovanovic’s works ended up in Matica Srpska’s Gallery”, Tijana Palkovljevic Bugarski said. Then she explained that they had continuously gathered and bought her works for over forty years. Building a collection of her legacy, they are trying to extend the short life of the artist. She showed the visitors the exhibits they are proud of the most, and reminded them not to miss the upcoming lectures.
The youngest visitors had the opportunity again to meet the painter in their own way by painting in her manner. Last Saturday, in the course of “Truly hardworking while drawing” workshop, they focused on Danica’s still life, and this time, they copied the folklore from Belgrade periphery from the beginning of 20th century.
