The follow-up program to the exhibition "Danica Jovanovic"

Again this Saturday, visitors to the exhibition “Danica Jovanovic (1886-1914)” at the Grand Gallery of the Central Military Club had the opportunity to participate in the follow-up program and learn something more about the creation of the exhibition.

Daniela Korolija Crkvenjakov, PhD, conserver and restaurateur of the Gallery of Matica Srpska from Novi Sad held a lecture on the topic “Danica Jovanovic: painting technique and conservation and restoration challenges”. She spoke about Danica Jovanovic’s art from the technical point of view, and also explained what a restaurateur’s work looks like.

“Our part of the work was to prepare the items for display. A restaurateur must not impose himself; his work must stay in the background. I am driven by the motto – less is more, because, with the desire to polish, lies the danger of forging the picture”, Daniela Korolija Crkvenjakov, PhD said, pointing at the spots in Danica’s paintings where certain damages were left on purpose, because even they preserve historical information.

The youngest visitors had the opportunity again to express themselves, inspired by the exhibition. Their works will also be displayed during the gala closing.
