The fourth follow-up program of the exhibition "Danica Jovanovic"
At the Grand Gallery of the Central Military Club, for the fourth consecutive week, a follow-up program to the exhibition “Danica Jovanovic” is being held. Manager of the gallery of the “Pavle Beljanski Memorial Collection” and the author of the exhibition Jasna Jovanov, PhD held a lecture titled “Danica Jovanovic: Author’s understanding of the exhibition” and guided the visitors through the exhibition. She spoke about the painter better than anyone else could, because she is the one who has been discovering Danica.
“I have been studying Danica Jovanovic for thirty years. When I encountered her for the first time, there were many secrets. And then, beautiful discoveries followed”, as Jasna Jovanovic stated while starting the lecture, explaining why Danica’s paintings were displayed in Belgrade. “Danica gained her education in Belgrade and she often visited this city. People whose houses she stayed in are the witnesses of her visits. Further proofs are the numerous paintings on Belgrade walls”.
Among the visitors of today’s expert guidance, H. E. Denis Keefe, Ambassador of the Great Britain was there, with his wife Kate and children Sophie and Thomas. The Ambassador thanked the author for the opportunity to learn about this great and courageous woman and artist.
As every Saturday, a children’s workshop “Truly hardworking while drawing” was held, where the youngest visitors had the opportunity to show their artistic skills and create works that will be a part of the presentation during the ceremonial closing of the exhibition. This time, the most little artist came from the Elementary School “Pavle Savic” from Mirijevo. Alongside Danica Jovanovic’s paintings, they found their inspiration in Ivanka Jevtovic’s models that are a part of the exhibition “Memory: Sorrow and Beauty” at the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club.
