Day of the Art Ensemble "Stanislav Binicki" marked

At the Gala Hall of the Central Military Club, a concert “With music through time” was held on the occasion of the Day of the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence “Stanislav Binicki”.

Conducted by Vojislav Bubisa Simic, Pavle Medakovic and Major Igor Mitrovic, solo performances were given by Jadranka Jovanovic, Merima NJegomir, Danka Stojiljkovic, Bozidar Boki Milosevic, Slavo Nikolic and Dejan Pesic.

Solo sections were also performed by musicians Captain Dusko Stojanovic – clarinet, Nadja Dornik – harp, and trumpet players Mladen Djordjevic, Vladimir Jovanovic and Nenad Ninkovic.

Continuing the tradition of the first symphonic “Belgrade Military Orchestra” from 1899, the ensemble has continued for decades the noble mission and worthily carried the name of composer and conductor Stanislav Binicki, and has also affirmed the music of our and international musical heritage.

Tonight’s concert’s repertoire included “Kraljevo Kolo”, “Tamo Daleko”, “Spanska Igra”, “Habanera”, “Praznik Trubaca”, music from the film “Montevideo, God Bless You” and compositions “Merakli Cocek”, “Sagapo”, “Kaljinka”, “Balkanske Impresije” and others.

The art ensemble proudly carries the name of a man who had intertwined his music into the last 100 years, filled with turbulent historical events. The Great War was imposed on Binicki as a circumstance, military duty and an unavoidable subject. This is why tonight’s concert was dedicated to marking the centenary of the beginning of the Great War.

With participation in numerous national and international musical stage ceremonies and festivals, “Binicki” Ensemble has promoted significant artistic values and presented music from across the world.
