Follow-up program to the exhibition “Seven Artists: Parallels between Fine Arts and Tapestry”
Today, at the Grand Gallery of the Central Military Club, in the course of the exhibition “Seven artists: Parallels between fine arts and tapestry”, art historian Goranka Vukadinovic held a video presentation and a lecture about the seven artists who had the will to experiment with tapestry. Goranka Vukadinovic, the co-author of the exhibition, is a curator at Atelje 61 in Petrovaradin. There are many art studios at the Petrovaradin Fortress – today, as there have been 50 years ago, when Bosko Petrovic, Stevan Maksimovic, Mladen Srbinovic, Stojan Celic, Dragutin Cigarcic, Jovan Soldatovic and Edo Murtic gathered around the same idea.
“These are all artists of vast talent. Painters, sculptors, mosaic artists – they also ventured into tapestry. With them, it was a result of socialization, talks. It was clear to them that it cannot imitate a painting, that it has no third dimension, depth, sfumato. It is a string that carries the information, not a brush and paint”, Goranka Vukadinovic explained. She told something about each author – theoretically and empirically, because she had had the chance to meet them at Atelje.
Mirjana Teofanovic, D.A., who studies this art discipline, was also in the audience, so in the end, she added that “it should be pointed out that Atelje 61 is not only a workshop and a gallery, but also an institution that has promoted our tapestry across the world for years”.
The next follow-up program is scheduled for October 4, when visitors will have the opportunity to see a documentary film “Atelje 61” and to learn something more about the exhibition with the help of an expert guide.
