Follow-up program to the exhibition “Seven Artists: Parallels between Fine Arts and Tapestry”
Visitors of the exhibition “Seven artists: Parallels between fine arts and tapestry” at the galleries of the Central Military Club tonight had the opportunity to enjoy the exhibition twice as much – viewing the art pieces and listening to a lecture of the exhibition’s author Ana Rakic.
Ana Rakic, curator of the Fine arts gallery Gift Collection of Rajko Mamuzic, first spoke about this institution’s work, about the social and political atmosphere in which the gallery had been developed, about the artists who had passed through it and about the exhibitions that had been held. This Novi Sad institution’s fond contains great works signed by the seven artists whose paintings, sculptures and tapestry are currently displayed on the walls of the Central Military Club: Bosko Petrovic, Stevan Maksimovic, Mladen Srbinovic, Stojan Celic, Dragutin Cigarcic, Jovan Soldatovic and Edo Murtic. Each of these artists with their individual artistic language represented a pillar of the Yugoslav art scene in the second half of the 20th century.
“Bosko Petrovic animated his contemporaries to experiment with the new technique. They created tapestry with different urges and ambitions, and, ultimately, with different results”, Ana Rakic said, concluding that it is that very diversity that make them so interesting for us today.
The follow-up program is held every Wednesday and Saturday, so the next expert guidance is scheduled on October 11, at 18.00.
The exhibition will be opened until October 31.
