Promotion of the book “Serbs on Corsica”

On the occasion of marking the centenary of the beginning of the Great War, the book “Serbs on Corsica” by Zoran Radovanovic was promoted today at the Atrium of the Central Military Club of Serbia.

The book was presented by the author, editor and publisher Zoran Kulundzija, Prof. Pavle Kovacevic, PhD, and Ljubomir Markovic, President of the Union of Serbian warrior's descendants 1912 – 1920. The lyrics of the poem “To Corsica” by Ljubomir Markovic were read by Milena Harambasic.

The author stressed that the book was written as a token of gratitude for the help that the French people had given to the Serbian people in the Great War. With the intention to leave important messages to future generations, Radovanovic gave particular attention to data on medical treatment of Serbian fighters, collecting biographies and photographs of Serbian refugees, and testimonies about the stay and education of our refugee students on Corsica. A particularly interesting part is where data is listed about individuals from that area, testimonies of the descendants and the search for forgotten events, together with entries from war journals of participants of the Albanian Golgotha from Corsica.

Members of the gathering agreed that this work is significant for awakening of collective knowledge on the time and events that marked the heroism of the Serbian military and people during the Albanian Golgotha.
