Ceremonial academy on the occasion of 96 years of freedom of Belgrade
Tonight, at the crowded Gala Hall of the Central Military Club, a ceremonial Academy was held on the occasion of 96 years of freedom of Belgrade, organized by the Belgrade City Council.
The program began with the sounding of trumpets, after which the Belgrade Theological Choir performed the Serbian anthem and the anthem of the Association of Descendants of Serbian Warriors. In the further course of the ceremony, the audience was greeted by Belgrade City Council President Pavle Lucic and Presidents of the Association of Descendants of Serbian Warriors Ljuba Markovic.
“My heart is filled with joy because I have the opportunity, at the most valuable holy house of Belgrade, the home of Serbian warriors, to open this ceremonial gathering with which we preserve and will preserve the deeds of our ancestors and the memory of November 1, 1918. For 96 times, Serbia has said – freedom!” Pavle Lucic reminded, greeting the numerous auditorium: representatives of the City, Armed Forces and the Church, citizens, friends and “our brightest future: the youth of Serbia, pupils and students”. The numerous auditorium included students of the Military Academy, Police Academy, Faculty of Theology, and students of the First Belgrade Grammar School and the Hotel Staff School.
The audience then had the opportunity to enjoy the musical theatrical performance “Sumadija to Belgrade”. The program was performed by the First Ensemble and the vocal group KUD “Sumadija” from Gornji Milanovac and actors of the National Theatre: Bane Tomasevic, Andrija Danicic and Ivan Pantovic. The actors’ lines were written based on the book “Mine, the whisper of heights” by a group of authors and “People of Thessaloniki Speaks” by Antonije Djuric. Between the recitals, KUD “Sumadija” performed city dances and folklore miniatures, and compositions “March on the Drina”, “Ja sam ja, Jeremija”, “This is Serbia”, “Pukni zoro” and “There, far away”.
The ceremony ended with joint singing of “Na mnogaja leta” and a cocktail.
