Promotion of books by General Zivko Pavlovic



Promotion of books “The Battle of Cer (The Battle of Jadar in August 1914)” and book 1 and 2 of “The Battle of Kolubara” by academic General Zivko G Pavlovic held on the occasion of the centenary of the beginning of the Great War and glorious Serbian victories on Cer and Kolubara at the Gala Hall of the Central Military Club drew great attention from the military and expert public, and a broad circle of historical books enthusiasts. The promotion of luxurious reprinted issues of the works published between 1924 and 1930, printed under the auspices of the Government of Serbia, published by Glas Crkve from Sabac and “Dimitrije Tucovic” Library from Belgrade was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia.

Written on the basis of authentic sources and war notes of the author, the contemporary of Serbian voivodes and then the Head of the Operative Sector of the Chief Command, and later the Assistant Head of the Chief Command Staff – Voivode Radomir Putnik, the books explain why the epopees of Cer and Kolubara are studied in all military academis of the world and why legendary Serbian commanders Voivodes Stepa and Zivojin Misic and their famed warriors became legends and entered the history of greatest war victories of the world.

The publishing undertake of Glas Crkve and “Dimitrije Tucovic” Library which can be listed among the works of greatest national and cultural importance was commented on by: docent Aleksandar Zivotic, PhD, Deacon Ljubomir Rankovic, PhD and Ratko Vukelic.

Addressing the importance of the battles where Serbian soldiers changed the world history, Deacon Ljubomir Rankovic, PhD stressed the significance of patriotism and loyalty to their country for each officer and soldier of the Serbian Army that defended its country even when chances of salvation seemed minimal. The life, military career and rich research work of Zivko Pavlovic were presented by Aleksandar Zivotic, PhD and Ratko Vukelic who stressed the scientific significance of the works that can easily be listed among historical sources of highest order.

A special tone was given to the promotion by professors of the Musical School “Marko Tajcevic” from Lazarevac with performances of songs “Ovo je Srbija”, “Pukni zoro” and “Igrale se delije”.

At the end of the book night dedicated to Zivko Pavlovic, one of most educated Serbian Generals, the reprints of his books, specific testimonies about war events from the age of most glorious Serbian military history were ceremonially handed to best cadets of the second, third and fourth years of the Military Academy : Dusan Savic, Lazar Stojnic and Bojana Regodic.
