Gallery



Exhibitor activity of the Gallery of the Central Military Club has a long tradition. It was founded in 1945, on the initiative of Branko Sotra, the first post-war head of the institution, a famous painter and founder of the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. The gallery has so far organized more than five hundred exhibitions of eminent local and foreign artists. In the meantime, there held been eight Quadrennials held on "Liberation War in the works of artists" and several thematic exhibitions "The army in the works of artists".

Velika galerija Doma Vojske SrbijeSince 1953 exhibitions are organized in the gallery space, which is today known as the Grand Gallery, and in 2011 the Small Gallery was also arranged, where following programs for exhibitions in the Grand Gallery are realized, author and group exhibitions of visual artists and 
exhibitions of photographs from the archives of the Media Centre "Odbrana". 

With the new exhibition concept, which has been applied since 2011, representative exhibitions in cooperation with museums, galleries, foundations, bequests and other institutions in Serbia are organized in the Gallery. Exhibitions have attracted outstanding reception of the art scene and restored the reputation the gallery once had.

In 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, their rich artistic and historical collections in the Gallery of the Serbian Armed Forces were presented by: Gallery "Sava Sumanovic" Sid, Gallery of Matica Srpska Novi Sad, Military Museum, Military Archives, Art Gallery "Nadezda Petrovic" Cacak, Foundation "Momcilo Momo Kapor ", Memorial Collection Pavle Beljanski Novi Sad, Historical Archive Pozarevac, the Historical Archive of the City of Novi Sad, the Museum of Modern Art of the Cultural Centre of Lazarevac, Cultural Centre Novi Pazar, Serbian Historical Museum, City Museum Vrsac, City Museum of Subotica, Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art Jagodina, Museum of Naive Art "Ilijanum", Atelje 61- Gift Collection of Rajko Mamuzic, National Museums from Zrenjanin, Nis, Pozarevac, Krusevac, Prokuplje, Home of Jevrem Grujic and collectors Dragoljub Milicevic and Djura Popovic.

In the last 60 years, since the establishment of the exhibitor space of the Central Military Club, more than 500 exhibitions have been organized. Exhibitions and numerous following programmes in the past five years have been seen by more than 300,000 visitors, ranking the Gallery of the Central Military Club among the most popular ones in Belgrade.
