Art Collection of the Gallery of the Central Military Club of Serbia



Art Collection Gallery of the Central Military Club has more than 1,500 works of visual artists of all ages from the area of former Yugoslavia. The collection mainly consists of once purchased works and gifts of artists who once exhibited in the Central Military Club or who participated in the art colonies organized by this institution.

Depo Doma Vojske SrbijeThe collection contains a number of significant achievements made during the first half of the 20th century, such as paintings by Vlah Bukovac, Ljuba Ivanovic, Sava Sumanovic and Marin Tartalja. However, the backbone of its values are the works of the Serbian and Yugoslav artists created after World War II until the breakup of Yugoslavia. Among them are the most well-known works of Milo Milunovic, Jovan Bijelic, Ljubo Babic, Kosta Hakman, Petar Lubarda, Zora Petrovic, Milan Konjovic, Krsto Hegedušić, Pedja Milosavljevic, Mica Popovic, Ljubica Cuca Sokic, Sreten Stojanovic and other great painters.

From representative paintings from the collection of 2011, an exhibition "Poetics and the fate of the 20th century" was created, which has so far been presented in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Zrenjanin, Jagodina, Vrsac, Lazarevac, and from a selection of sculptures the exhibition "Mirror of the time" was made, which premiered in the Grand Gallery of the Central Military Club in January 2014. The art collection of the Central Military Club also contains a couple of hundred graphic works, of which about thirty were selected for the exhibition of graphics "Reading the line", created in May 2014, and from about fifty works on paper the exhibition "Confessions of Yugoslav moderna" was created, which was presented to the public in January 2015.

Depo Doma Vojske SrbijeMany of the works from the art collection have never been exhibited and are unknown even to art historians. Professional processing of works of art and preparation of the collection catalogue are under way, which will bring it closer and more fully present it to fine art lovers and experts. The collection is stored in the depot which is equipped according to modern museological standards. Segments of the artistic treasure of this collection, exhibited in the Grand Halls of the Central Military Club, visitors can see during the "Night of Museums" in which the Media Centre "Odbrana" traditionally participates with a rich programme.
