Edition "Serbia 1914-1918" promoted at the Central Military Club of Serbia
At the Gala Hall of the Central Military Club of Serbia, an edition was promoted today, titled “Serbia 1914-1918” by a group of authors, dedicated to marking the centenary of the Great War.
The edition that was awarded for the best publication of the year at the International Belgrade Book Fair was presented by Deputy Acting Director of RTS Zoran Milikic, scientific advisor Prof. Momcilo Pavlovic, PhD, Editor-in-Chief of the publiching house Prometej Zoran Kolundzija and the authors” historian Milos Kovic, PhD and Zoran Radovanovic.
Milikic said that it is our commitment to pay our respects to the victims and heroes of the Great War, because “there isn’t a family in Serbia that is not in a way linked to this event”, and Pavlovic stressed that our awareness of this event preserves the memory and remembrance of the ancestors that took part in the Great War.
According to Kolundzija, the edition contributes to this fostering of culture of remembrance and Serbian historiography “where previously was a vast void”.
Kovic and Radovanovic, authors of a part of the edition, presented their works “Gavrilo Princip – Documents and memories” and “Serbs in Corsica”.
Prometej publishing house and RTS have published the 10-tome edition that focuses on the subjects of the causes to the war, persons and consequences, sheds light on the key years in Serbia in the beginning of 20th century, and offers authentic proof and objective interpretations that have not been spoken or learnt about. Testimonies of the Serbs that took part in the war, and the image of Serbia from the perspective of beholders were presented by the authors in thousands of significant historical photographs and documents.
Excerpts from the books were read by dramatic actress Zeljka Jelic, and the musical part of the program featured Danka Stojiljkovic accompanied by Nikola Vasic on piano.
