Today, at the Atrium of the Central Military Club of Serbia, an exhibition of works by Ivan Radovic titled “Under the sky of Vojvodina” was opened in organization of the Zrenjanin Contemporary Gallery, the Zrenjanin National Museum and Odbrana Media Center.
The exhibition, organized on the occasion of 40 years since the death of the great painter, aims to show the creation of half a century that has left an inerasable mark in the Serbian art history.
At the opening of the exhibition, visitors were addressed by Colonel Stevica Karapandzin, Director of Odbrana Media Center; authors of the exhibition Olivera Skoko, curator of Zrenjanin National Museum and Slavica Popov, curator of the Contemporary Gallery from Zrenjanin.
Colonel Karapandzin stressed that the exhibition is a result of successful cooperation of the three cultural institutions.
- The curators invested great efforts in organizing the exhibition of the artist that had left an inerasable trace in our art history. Ivan Radovic was greatly devoted to the plains of Vojvodina, and the people of that origin always imagine they are there when they see the paintings – Director of Odbrana Media Center said.
According to Olivera Skoko, the artist’s work is shown through five paintings in the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club, stressing the importance of archive study material. Slavica Popov, the other author of the exhibition, spoke about Radovic’s work which predominantly includes Vojvodina landscapes, alongside with nude art and portraits, and she described his work as “diverse”.
In the course of the exhibition, visitors also had the opportunity to watch the documentary film “Ivan Radovic” (from “Painters and sculptors” series), produced by Radio Television of Serbia.
Interested visitors will have the chance to see the exhibition until March 7, 2015, on workdays and Saturdays, 11.00 – 19.00.
