The book “People’s uprising 3 – Partisans” presented
At the Atrium of the Central Military Club of Serbia, a book by Ivan Ivanovic was presented today, titled “People’s uprising 3 – Partisans”, which is the last part of the trilogy that also features books “Chetniks” and “The State of Toplica”.
In the first part of the trilogy, the author depicted the dramatic events prior to the Uprising of Toplica, which is the topic of the second book. The unique saga about the Serbian demise ends with the novel “Partisans”, whose main characters are national hero Ratko Pavlovic Cicko and Doctor of Law, a diplomat and writer Milivoje Perovic.
The book was presented by Prof. Dr. Jovica Trkulja from the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, lawyer Branko Pavlovic, a descendant of Ratko Pavlovic Cicko and the author.
This is the 30th book written by Ivan Ivanovic, whose works were once forbidden. In it, he described the fate of the best communists who believed in one of many human delusions.
- The topic of all my books is the conflict between Chetniks and Partisans, without me inserting my personal conclusions. This is why the readers use the book for a dialogue with history and thus make their own conclusions – the author said.
Branko Pavlovic, who insisted that the today’s presentation be held at the former Warrior’s House, said that the author had invested intellectual efforts in seeking dilemmas that he wrote about in the book.
- Here before you is an exceptionally complex book that has opened doors for a plethora of questions. The author offered the answers to some, and to some not – Pavlovic said.
According to Prof. Trkulja, who had recently published a book on Ivan Ivanovic, there are not many authors who had grown with their native land in such a way. He recommended the book to the readers, with the message that “the best books speak for themselves, and always in their own language”.
