Belgrade premiere of the live action-documentary film “War Notes” held

Tonight, at the Gala hall of the central Military Club of Serbia, a Belgrade premiere was held for the live action-documentary film “War Notes”, filmed by motifs from the war journal of Loznica protopriest Jovan M. Boskovic. Based on his journal, Prof. Radovan Simic wrote a script for a monodrama that he later adapted for film, together with director Zoran Grujic.

Protopriest Jovan M. Boskovic participated in all important battles – from Vuciji Do in Montenegro to the battlefield in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the Serbia Army, he passed through Albania and the Thessalonica Front. He was decorated with the Medal for Courage by King Nikola, and with the honorary silver saber of the Nemanjic dynasty, and he was remembered primarily for the speeches he had given to encourage the Serbian Army, because he believed that “honorable words are greetings from the Sun”. This is why, in 1931, a publication was printed that contained his most noted words to the heroic army under the crown of the Karadjordjevic dynasty.

Tonight’s program was hosted by actor Dragan Tosic. Actress Branislava Ilic and actor Miloje Nikolic held a short stage performance, and singers of Cultural Art Society “Karadzic” sang “There, far away”, “The French ship is moving”, and “Oh, Serbia, dear mother”. The audience was addressed by Director of Media Center Odbrana Colonel Stevica Karapandzin, Assistant Mayor of Loznica Ljubinko Djokic and scriptwriter Radovan Simic.

Director of Media Center Odbrana listed the activities to take place at the Central Military Club this year, which will contribute to the marking of the Great War.
“It is nice to hear and see the activities that take place here, because this is the home of all of us. The building we are in is a symbol of spiritual and cultural power, a symbol of Serbian military ethos, and a symbol of defence power of our fatherland”, Colonel Karapandzin said.

Assistant Mayor of Loznica Ljubinko Djokic also addressed the audience.
“Unfortunately, the territory of the City of Loznica was the place of many battles. In all those battles, the Serbian people, Army and officers won, because our houses, our fathers, our mothers and children were behind the front line. Even today, we are leading a battle – the one for a better life of our citizens”, Assistant Mayor of Loznica said, stressing the important bond between the past and the present. This bond is the reason that this project was supported by the Association for fostering tradition of liberation wars, Loznica section, and by the City Management of Loznica.

After the discussion on the film, the audience had the opportunity to see the film itself. Main role of protopriest Jovan is played by Marko Janjic, and other roles are played by Aleksandar Gligoric, Zeljko Maksimovic, Milan Antonic, Branko Perisic, Miroslav Savic and Djordje Markovic. An interesting fact is that all the actors are from Loznica.
