The book "Writings" presented at the Central Military Club



At the Central Military Club of Serbia, a promotion was held today for the book “Writings” by Biljana Zivkovic, published by the Institute for Research on the Suffering of the Serbs in the Twentieth Century.

The collection of texts and the immediate testimonials dedicated to the suffering of the Serbian people for the past three decades in Kosovo and Metohija were presented by the author, historians MSc. Jovan Pejin and Dr. Miloje Prsic, Director of the Institute Milivoje Ivanisevic and Dr. Radomir Kovacevic.

Stating that the work presented valuable archive build, which “was not created in an office, but in the field”, Pejin clarified that the “Writings” most concretely contributed to understanding of the tragedy that the Serbian people had gone through in the past decades in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija.

- The reportages and interviews were conducted with priests, monks, nuns, doctors and interesting people whose testimonials complete a fresh historical source and give it the eternal value.

Retired Colonel Dr. Milivoje Prsic said that the book contributed to the national enlightenment of Serbs and that it was an important testimonial of the Golgotha of our people.

- The contents of the texts are striking and leave the readers restless for days, but that is better than living in oblivion – one of the reviewers said.

Biljana Zivkovic, the author, conveyed the impressions and experience from the encounters with the people in Kosovo and Metohija in the past decade, when she had collected the build for her work, which she published as the third book of the edition “Unchristened times”.

Naming all the places in the southern province where she had resided, she spoke about the moments of her stay that had been the most dramatic, most distressful, and which were most beautiful moments in her encounters with the people and their fates.

In the four parts, the author of the book gave a clear image of what the Serbian people is encountering today in Kosovo and Metohija. Searching for the causal-consequential connections, the book relies on living testimonials and on scientific expert explanations of the subject. In the artistic part of the program, Svetlana Stevic-Vukosavljevic performed songs from Kosovo and Metohija.
