Tenth anniversary of the Club of Generals and Admirals of Serbia marked

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Club of Generals and Admirals of Serbia, a ceremonial session was held at the Central Military Club. It was attended by many guests and members of the Club, Minister of Defence Bratislav Gasic and Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic with associates.

Congratulating the Club members on the anniversary of successful work, General Dikovic stressed that the organization represented an important resource, not only for MoD and SAF, but for the entire state.

- According to the latest research, SAF is still the institution that earns the most public trust. For us soldiers, it is both an honor and responsibility to be worthy of your trust. This trust is not only the result of the work of the current generation of SAF senior military staff. You, who once worked in MoD and SAF, have also contributed to this – Chief of general Staff said, adding that the advice and experience of the members of the Club of Generals and Admirals provided a significant contribution.

Analyzing the Club’s work in the past period, President of the Club’s Assembly retired Lieutenant general Dr. Vidoje Pantelic separated three periods in the history of this non-governmental, non-partisan and neo-political professional organization. After the initial struggles, and resistance of the society and the authorities to the foundation of the organization of retired senior military staff of the Yugoslav People’s Army and the Yugoslav Army, the Club of Generals and Admirals of Serbia consolidated and, in cooperation with similar national and international associations, organized several noted conferences, seminars and roundtables in the field of history, security and defence, and became an active member of SUBNOR of Serbia and the Association of Military Pensioners.

According to Pantelic, the most important stage is in progress. It includes the reestablishment of the cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Department for Tradition, Standard and Veterans. The Club of Generals and Admirals of Serbia also became an active member of the International Consulting Committee of organizations of reserve and retired officers, which also gave it international affirmation.

On the occasion of the tenth anniversary, the Club of Generals and Admirals established a Medal of Serbian Generals and Admirals Serbian King Dusan Silni which is awarded for exceptional results in the work and the affirmation of the Club in the country and abroad. On the same occasion, the Club handed over letters of thanks to MoD and the General Staff and other state and military organizations for the lasting contribution in the affirmation of the Club of Generals and Admirals in the past period.
