Promotion of the book-"Orao" from the Yugoslav perspective

In the central Military Club last night, after promotion to the recently completed International Book Fair in Belgrade, Aleksandar Radic presented his  book "The eagle - view from the Yugoslav perspective."

This is, by far, the most comprehensive monograph devoted to this famous plane, produced by the domestic airline industry, the Media Center "Odbrana”’s edition, of which the author spoke along with the reviewers the commander of Air Force General - Major General Ranko Zivak and retired LTG l Dr. Ruben Rendulic.

Richly illustrated with a wealth of data that the author collected during his dedicated research, this detailed monograph highlights the origin, development and use of the "Orao," one of the most important aircrafts of the Yugoslav airline industry after the Second World War, and some of the images and data, which the book abounds, have for the first time been published here.

The author, military analyst Aleksandar Radic said that writing this book was a sort of a purpose for him as, just as "Orao" had its intended purpose, which has been exercised over decades.

- "Orao" for me has always been a special plane, in terms of technological challenge and with respect to its great features. It has practically been idolized for years what it stands for, and I personally attached in my memories of the many fragments of this craft, and this emotion, so in addition to this informative material, the book transpires this emotion, Radic said, adding that he had started writing it back in high school twenty years ago, when he was fascinated by everything that Orao meant at that time.

The author testified that the book did not hide information and did not attempt to manipulate the facts, yet that it had to be written and published so our professional and general public could see what kind of problems the country faced when embarking on a quest for technology sources, as well as ways of solving problems when such ambitious projects are launched, as is the case with “Orao"

-I was not too meticulous in researching data sources, provided that the information was validated, said Aleksandar Radic, noting that, especially when it comes to the production of the aircraft, there is room to supplement the material. Also, he pointed out, despite his earlier view that he "did not see a great future for" Orao ", now he thinks there is a chance that your plane could have a new life, with some of other planes of our airline industry..

- Speaking about his experience with the "Orao", which he has flown since1989. , the commander of Air Force Major - General Ranko Zivak, said that from the beginning this was a highly complex and successful project, which served as a powerful impetus to the domestic airline industry, thus making the system work more seriously.

- Unfortunately, I have to say that, "Orao" has remained the peak domestic aviation industry, which after 30 years has not become obsolete, but it is clear it can have a future because it is built on our minds for a reason, so is the backbone of Serbian Air Force, said General Zivak.

LTG Dr. Ruben Rendulic, who, as a man of whom, among others, were expected to formulate the terms of reference for the development of new aircraft, played an important role in the birth of "Orao," he said of that time, and dilemmas models of this aircraft, as well as the basic characteristics of the aircraft and the purpose of which will, testified that all interviewees, despite the rich material presented monograph, many more pages will be written about this plane..
