Session "The guards and witnesses of memory – gusle, the most beautiful celebration of a Serb’s courage" held




At the Atrium of the Central Military Club, a session titled "The guards and witnesses of memory – gusle, the most beautiful celebration of a Serb’s courage" was held today, organized by the Association of War Volunteers 1912-1918, their descendants and admirers.

The program presented songs that used to be sung by gusle during the First World War, which are a part of the repertoire of songs that testify to the heroic times and achievement of the Serbian people and state.

The participants were gusle players, poets, cantors from our area - Ljubinko Dragojlovic, Dragan Malidzan, Strahinja Magdalinic, Vojislav Stanisic, Bozidar Glogovac and Ljubomir Manasijevic.

Gusle is an instrument first mentioned in our region as early as in the 10th century. It is an ancient instrument that has endured through the centuries and remained in the Serbian people, witnessing and surviving all the people’s will and hardships.
