12th International Festival "Harpsichord, the Living Art"



In several places in Belgrade, from 31 October to 11 November, the 12th International Festival "Harpsichord, the Living Art - Ars vivendi clavicembalum" will be held. One of these locations is the ceremonial hall of the Central Military Club, where tonight we enjoyed the famous "Goldberg Variations" by Johann Sebastian Bach, in a virtuoso performance of Austrian harpsichordist Erich Traxler.

Erich Traxler studied organ and harpsichord in Vienna and Basel, and is now a lecturer at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. During his playing career, he has won first prize in an international competition of organists in Goldrain in Italy (2003) and Bochum, Germany (2005), held solo concerts and concerts with ensembles that perform early music across Europe and the USA, in South America, Korea and Japan. He has recorded for radio, and has recorded several compact discs.

On Saturday, 7 November at 20 o’clock you will be able to enjoy another festival concert. Harpsichordist Milan Popovic, accompanied by the MoD Art Ensemble "Stanislav Binicki" will perform concerts for harpsichord and string orchestra of contemporary British author Walter Lee and the most important representative of Baroque Johann Sebastian Bach, and a suite for harpsichord and chamber ensemble by Francis Poulenc.
