Stanislav Binicki Ensemble at the 12th International Harpsichord Festival

Harpsichordist Milan Popovic, accompanied by the Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence "Stanislav Binicki", under the leadership of young conductor Ivan Markovic, performed tonight in the Conference Hall of the Central Military Club concerts for harpsichord and string orchestra. The repertoire included the works of contemporary British author Walter Lee and the most important representatives of Baroque Johann Sebastian Bach, as well as suites for harpsichord and chamber ensemble by Francis Poulenc.

The evening concert held at the Central military Club is one of many in which the Belgrade public will enjoy up to 11 November, within the framework of the 12th International Festival "Living Art - Ars vivendi clavicembalum".

The International Harpsichord Festival, which since its founding in 2004 has been organized by the Cultural Centre of Belgrade, represents a unique musical event in Europe. The festival promotes the harpsichord, an instrument that is rare in the local concert practice, and even rarer in master classes which, as part of the festival, are held for students of university and secondary music schools.

Concerts and accompanying programs are on-going in several Belgrade's most beautiful concert halls - in Kolarac, Italian Institute, Artget Gallery, the Ceremonial Hall of the Central Military Club and the Belgrade City Hall.

With the national harpsichordists Smiljka Isakovic, Milan Popovic, Jovana Topalov, Predrag Gosta and Anastasija Markovic, the Belgrade audience will be introduced with guests from abroad - Erich Traxler, Frederick Haas and Ottaviano Tenerani.
