Exhibition "Nadezda Petrovic, 100 years since the right to eternal memory" opened

A quarter of the creative work of Nadezda Petrovic, the founder of Serbian modern art, as of today can be seen at the gallery of the Central Military Club at the exhibition which was opened by State Secretary Nenad Neric. The setup consisting of 73 paintings from all creative periods of the artist's famous work is the result of collaboration between the largest national art treasury - the National Museum in Belgrade and Odbrana Media Centre.

- Nadezda Petrovic was a teacher, not only of her, but of all nations, as her biography and everything we heard about her today confirm. Opening doors for a new direction for modern Serbian art in the early 20th century, and today, at the beginning of the 21st century – she is a teacher of the new century – Neric said. He added that the example of Nadezda Petrovic brings us back to the time of faith in the ideals, faith in top-quality education, faith in justification of sacrifice what we believe in.

Guests were addressed by Director of Odbrana Media Centre Colonel Stevica S Karapandzin and President of the Association of Serbian Artists "Lada" Aleksandar Djuric.

- This exhibition also contains much unusual symbolism. It is already visible on the poster where Nadezda Petrovic is presented with two pictures that determine her - as an artist and as a war nurse because the talent, humanity and patriotism are the basic characteristics of her personality -Colonel Karapandzin said.

The exhibition on the occasion of the centenary of the death of the artist is accompanied by a richly illustrated catalogue in which the author of the exhibition setup art historian and museum consultant Ljubica Miljkovic prepared a concise article about Nadezda’s life, carefully making reference to all the creative phases of the artist from 1898 to 1913.

The Grand Gallery of the Central Military Club will be open for visitors of the exhibition of paintings by Nadezda Petrovic until 24 December.
